I just played a little bit of old school Commander Keen. It plays very similarly to how I remember it, except that I think I had a slightly more recent version. I remember bouncing on the pogo stick.
Playing old video games and reading about video game history always makes me wish I were better at programming than I am. I've got no clue what's going on underneath the hood of Wii Sports, say, but "Zeppelin: Giants of the Sky" makes me want to figure out how to make it work. It reminds me of the hours I spent trying to program a graphical version of that Drug Dealer game everyone had on their TI-83.
It didn't work..
